Antidoping

Since 2003 the International Biathlon Union has accepted the Code of the World Anti Doping Agency WADA and supports the fight against doping, just like many other national and international sports federations.

The IBU conducts its own Anti-Doping test program which includes urine- as well as blood tests. They are done in-competition and out of competition. The Result-Management Process for IBU can be found in the IBU Anti-Doping Rules and is in accordance with the current WADA-Code. In addition the IBU uses the online administrative system ADAMS of WADA. It is used by the athletes to inform the federation about their whereabouts and thus are available for unannounced (Out-of –competition) doping tests. The IBU also uses ADAMS as an information clearing house and stores and distributes information about anything Anti-doping-related like test results or Therapeutic Use Excemptions (TUEs) to the athletes.
