Os and Podchufarova Win IBU Cup Sprints

Clean-shooting Alexander Os of Norway won the men's sprint on a rainy morning in Osrblie, at IBU Cup 7 in 23:14.9. Second went to Russia's Timofey Lapshin, with one penalty, 5.5 seconds back, while another Norwegian Haavard Bogetveit also shooting clean was third, 20.2 seconds back.

Lang Doubles Up with Pursuit Win

Germany's Kathrin Lang made it two-for-two today by winning the women's pursuit after taking the sprint yesterday at the IBU Cup in Ruhpolding. She finished in 31:18.1, with one penalty, 1:09 ahead of clean shooting Ekaterina Iourieva of Russia. Germany's Nadine Horchler who started one minute back finished third, with one penalty, 1:46 back.

Win Number Two for Simon Schempp

Simon Schempp claimed the second win of his career today despite two penalties in the men's 12.5K pursuit. He finished in 31:20.6, 1.5 seconds ahead of France's Jean Guillaume Beatrix, with one penalty. Third went to Norway's Henrik L'Abee Lund.

Lang Wins Ruhpolding Women’s Sprint

Germany's Kathrin Lang won the sprint competition in Ruhpolding, with clean shooting, in 21:27.9. Second went to Norway's Bente Landheim, who also shot clean, 13.9 seconds behind Lang. Russia's Ekaterina Iourieva was third, with one penalty, 24.5 seconds back.

Germany Wins IBU Cup Mixed Relay

The German mixed relay team of Kathrin Lang, Nadine Horchler, Benedikt Doll and Florian Graf won the competition in 1.20:05.6. with one penalty. Germany left the second placed Russia 1:13.6 behind. The Russian team of Ekaterina Iourieva, Valentina Nazarova, Alexander Chernyshov and Sergey Korastylev stayed penalty-free. Third went to France with Jacquemine Baud, Enora Latuilliere, Remi Borgeot and Antonin Guigonnat, also penalty-free, 1:59.2 back. Austria is penalty-free in fourth palce; and Switzerland with two penalties in fifth places, respectively. Sixth went Sweden, Penalty-free, 2:21.6 back.

Slepov Wins Men’s Sprint

Russia's Alexey Slepov won the men's 10K sprint today in Ridnaun, in 25:07.9, with clean shooting. Yesterday's winner Lars Helge Birkeland finished second today, also shooting clean, 27 seconds back. Germany's Benedikt Doll was with two penalties was third, 44.7 seconds back. Slepov's teammate Timofey Lapshin had two penalties to finish fourth, 54.3 seconds back. Norway's Alexander Os was fifth, with one penalty, 59.9 seconds back. France's Antonin Guigonnat shot clean, but was still 1:01.6 minutes back, in sixth.

Birkeland Wins Ridnaun 20K Individual

Lars Helge Birkeland of Norway won the men's 20K Individual at IBU Cup 5 with only one penalty on the last shooting stage, in 54:25.3. Russia's Sergey Korastylev, despite clean shooting, finished 15 seconds behind the winner. Norway's Alexander Os, with two penalties finished third, with 22.9 seconds back.

Second Victory for Hinz in Ridnaun

Vanessa Hinz took her second victory in the Women's sprint at IBU Cup 4 in Ridnaun today; she stayed penalty-free in 22:51.6. Second went another German Kathrin Lang who had one penalty, 14.5 seconds back. Three Russian athletes finished in places 3-5: Ekaterina Yurlova with one penalty in third, 24.9 seconds back; Evgenia Seledtsova, with also only one penalty the fourth 36.5 seconds back, and Anastasia Zagoruiko with one penalty, fifth just .3 seconds behind fourth place. Jitka Landova of the Czech Republic in sixth had two penalties, 43.9 seconds back.
